Why is DB2 data source failing with Connection authorization failure occurred. Reason: User ID or Password invalid. ERRORCODE=-4214, SQLSTATE=28000 ?

Question

IMPACT 7.1 (Linux) with NOI attempting task : "Configuring DB2 database connection within Impact"

Configure the ObjectServer data source and data type:

1) In the Netcool/Impact UI, from the list of available projects, select the NOI project.

2) Select the Data Model tab and select ObjectServerForNOI.

    Click Edit and enter information for username, password, host name, port.
3) To save the Netcool/Impact data source, click Test Connection, followed by the Save icon.

However on step # 3 [test connection], Result is

X Connection could not be made

Error 503: JDBC Connection Pool could not connect to either data source

Also, the impactserver.log shows the following error:

com.micromuse.response.common.soap.SoapResponseServerException: JDBC Connection Pool could not connect to either data source.

Also tested User ID and password from command line:

db2 => connect to user using

from the db2 command line it connection worked fine
