Troubleshooting
Problem
We are migrating from 2-port 1-Gig OSA-Express cards to 1-port 10-Gig OSA-Express cards, operating in QDIO mode. Now we are getting this error message: EZZ4338I ERROR REPORTED ON INTERFACE interface_name - CODE 8010314F DIAGNOSTIC CODE 03 How do we resolve the problem indicated by this error message?
Resolving The Problem
The error code reported in message EZZ4338I is a DLC status code. Bytes 2 and 3 (completion code) - x'314F' - of the status code indicate that the OSA-Express card has detected that an invalid port number was configured for the card on the PORTNUM operand specified on the TRLE statement of the VTAM TRL major node that defined this OSA card.
The only valid port numbers for a two-port OSA-Express card are 0 and 1. The only valid port number for a single-port OSA-Express card is 0.
If you are migrating from a two-port card, for which you specified PORTNUM values of 0 and 1, to a single-port card, you need to update the VTAM TRL node to specify port 0 on a different CHPID. As a result of this action, your OSA cards will come active and that error message will be eliminated.
