Question & Answer
Question
When is the 'SDT-Cadvanced' feature used by an application?
Answer
In batch mode (taexbatch) and through GUI (both targeting expert and make dialogue) when code is generated with Cadvanced as a code generator 'sdt-cadvanced' feature is checked out and not otherwise.
This feature is not checked out when targeting expert is launched either through GUI or taexbatch.
However, we also can have Feature like SDT-SDLCodeBuilderCadvanced, which is actually a package and includes the following features:
- Organizer
- SDL Framework
- MSC editor
- C/C++ Access
- DOORS Integration
- SDL Simulator
- SDL to C Compiler, advanced
- Targeting expert
In case the license file contains SDT-SDLCode BuilderCadvanced and not SDT-Cadvanced, if a user uses any one of the above features, then the entire package is checked out and hence unavailable for other users.
For example, if one launches Targeting Expert the feature SDT-SDLCodeBuilderCadvanced will be checked out since targeting Expert is a part of the package "SDT-SDLCode BuilderCadvanced".
The behavior can be tested by starting the LMTOOLS and viewing the Log, every time we perform an action (starting SDL, opening targeting expert, generating code, etcetera) using SDL Suite.
Listed below are the steps to perform the test:
- Stop/Start/Reread the license file
- Launch the SDL Suite and check the license log
- Similarly open a SDL System and start Targeting Expert or taexbatch and check the license log for the features Checked OUT
- You can repeat the same steps while generating the code using cadvanced.
