Question & Answer
Question
When does the SMF record get created?
Answer
The DMGSMF exit is called whenever a statistics record is written. The DMGSMF exit is a statistics exit. You would generally trigger a write of an SMF record whenever a process writes a stats record.
When you modify the DMGSMF exit, you would specify what statistics type record you want written to the SMF file.
Review the 'Statistics Exit' in the 'Using Connect:Direct EXITS' chapter in Administration Guide.
