Troubleshooting
Problem
During troubleshooting, administrator launches a web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) and connects directly to the dispatcher URI. HINT: By default, this location is the URL: //SERVERNAME:9300/p2pd/servlet/dispatch The Cognos Business Intelligence administrator expects to see a website. Instead, the user sees a lot of text, formatted as XML.
Symptom
XML response received:

Inside this XML text, there may be interesting messages such as the following:
- <messageString xsi:type="xsd:string" xml:space="preserve">CAM-AAA-0036 Unable to authenticate because the credentials are invalid.</messageString>
<....>
<faultstring>CM-REQ-4342 An error occurred with the client.</faultstring>
<....>
<messageString>CM-REQ-4159 Content Manager returned an error in the response header. The error "cmAuthenticateFailed CM-CAM-4005 Unable to authenticate. Check your security directory server connection and confirm the credentials entered at login." can be found in the response SOAP header.</messageString>
Compare the above with what the user expected to see (a simple webpage):

The above is what is seen when using non-LDAP namespaces (e.g. default 'Cognos' namespace or using NTLM/Active Directory connectors).
