What sets HOSTNAME versus Hostname in the agent properties?

Question & Answer

Question

"HOSTNAME" is from the environment variable.

"Hostname" is from

java InetAddress.getLocalHost().getCanonicalHostName() or (if that fails) InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName()

According to the Java™ 11 documentation:

static InetAddress    getLocalHost()    Returns the address of the local host.

String    getCanonicalHostName()  Gets the fully qualified domain name for this IP address.
