Question & Answer
Question
What marks the end of a session started from a native mobile app? How is it different from a session started in a different device or a web browser on a desktop?
Answer
Sessions are defined to end after a default period of inactivity (typically 30 minutes under IBM Managed Library setup); or if the user closes all instances of the browser being used or terminates the browser mobile app.
?In mobile or other devices it is possible that the Session ID may be the same after events such as closing the native mobile app restarting your phone/device or even after the defined period of inactivity. However our logic considers the defined period of inactivity to mark the end of a session and identifies separate sessions.
In typical situations where the mobile or device operating system keeps the app open in the background switching back and forth between apps will not end the session unless the defined period of inactivity is crossed. Opening a new window/tab in the same browser instance also will not end a session unless the defined period of inactivity is crossed.
