What files and folders should be excluded from real-time anti virus scan in Planning Environment?

Question

Anti virus software is known to interfere with some of the Planning processes. By placing a handle or a lock on the files it scans, it stops Planning from accessing those files when required. What folders and files should be then excluded from real-time, live anti-virus scan?

Answer

Excluding following files and folders has been known in the past to be required to resolve some of the Planning problems:
(List may not be exhaustive)

Server side:
-Cognos installation folder, particularly bin folder
-Folders containing Analyst libraries, filesys.ini, lock folders and other folders referenced in Filesys.ini
-Temp folders for files such as *.sql *.cmd, *.out, *.txt, necessary for publish, and bulk load database operations

Client side:
*.cogrcp
cognosrcp.exe
contributor.exe
