What does the RAM information in System Internals mean?

Question & Answer

Question

What does the RAM (Random-access memory) information in System Internals mean?

For example, a user wants to execute a large GoLive, it is always advisable to validate the memory settings before execution to ensure the GoLive will complete without running out of memory.

In Administration > System internals, it shows Physical RAM, Reserved RAM and Champion RAM listed in General Information, below is a screen capture for illustrative purposes:

Let us consider this scenario from a small system:

    Physical RAM 1.945 GB
    Reserved RAM 1.365 GB
    Champion RAM 1.485 GB

  1. Does it mean that IBM Safer Payments is using 1.485+1.365 GB or 1.365GB out of 1.485 GB?
  2. What is the difference between Champion RAM and Reserved RAM?
  3. How to determine how much RAM is available for use?
