What is the difference between SEQUENCE NUMBER and ELEMENT SEQUENCE in EDIM140 (2.7) Standard Segment Element Panel? (3250)

Question & Answer

Question

What is the difference between SEQUENCE NUMBER and ELEMENT SEQUENCE in EDIM140 (2.7) Standard Segment Element Panel? (3250)

Cause

Answer

Example: EDIM140 displays 004010, POC05, as ELEMENT 22.

GENTRAN uses the sequence number (first column) to maintain the sequential order of the elements and subelements in the given segment.
The ELEMENT SEQUENCE (second column) can actually be called the element number. The reason there are multiple 005 element sequence numbers is that the POC05 is a composite element.
The next column, SUB ELE, has the sub element number. This means that the sub-element separator, identified in the envelope, separates the information in this element.
