In Cognos there are two ways to "move" objects in Connection: (1) Using cut / paste (2) Clicking on the "more..." link of the entry and there is a "move" action to choose. Question : Will the "cut / paste" or "move" action simply update a pointer in Cognos content store? Or will it physically move the report outputs within the DB which will take lots of time ?

These two types of "move" action are the same. The "cut / paste" or "move" action simply update a pointer in Cognos content store.
