What is causing the error message "dbcac_NameLookup(): the name pointer passed to this function is NULL!" ?

Problem

After an upgrade to TM1 Server Version 9.5.2 or newer, starting a TM1 instance may create hundreds or thousands of error messages in the TM1 server message logfile tm1server.log like 5436 [] ERROR 2011-10-16 05:58:41.281 TM1.Cube.ThreadCalculation dbcac_NameLookup(): the name pointer passed to this function is NULL! Cube: plan_BudgetPlan, Dimension: plan_version. Typically the TM1 instance starts to log such error messages after processing the feeders of a cube, for instance 7200 [] INFO 2011-10-16 05:53:52.921 TM1.Server TM1CubeImpl::ProcessFeeders: Computing feeders for base cube 'plan_BudgetPlan'. 7200 [] ERROR 2011-10-16 05:53:53.343 TM1.Cube.ThreadCalculation dbcac_NameLookup(): the name pointer passed to this function is NULL! Cube: plan_BudgetPlan, Dimension: plan_version.
