WebSphere z/OS - Shared Class Cache

White Papers

Abstract

Java supports the use of what's called "shared class cache." This provides the ability to store in-memory representations of the Java classes and share them between multiple Java virtual machines (JVMs). This provides the ability to reduce the startup time of servers employing shared class cache. That's because the initial reading of the files and creation of the class representations can be avoided: the class representations are in cache. This paper provides an exploration of shared class cache with WebSphere Application Server z/OS, as well as WebSphere Liberty z/OS.
