Troubleshooting
Problem
The 64-bit version of the V8.4.1.x WebSphere Transformation Extender Zip adapter for Windows and distributed operating systems does not support the ZIP64 format. The 32-bit version of WebSphere Transformation Extender Zip adapter for Windows operating systems supports the ZIP64 format only when the fix for APAR PI09931 is applied.
Symptom
The WebSphere Transformation Extender map fails to unzip an archive that is built using a tool that uses ZIP64 format. The adapter returns the -999 error code.
Cause
The PKWARE V4.5 specification introduced the ZIP64 format extension.
The 64-bit version of the V8.4.1.x WebSphere Transformation Extender Zip adapter for Windows and distributed operating systems uses the Java V1.6 built-in zip utilities (java.util.zip). The Java V1.7 built-in zip utilities support the ZIP64 format.
The 32-bit version of WebSphere Transformation Extender Zip adapter for Windows operating systems does not properly handle the extended zip format.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve the problem with the 32-bit version of WebSphere Transformation Extender Zip adapter, apply the limited availability fix for APAR PI09931. Even with the APAR fix applied, the 32-bit adapter cannot unzip files that are larger than 4 GB.
Java 1.7 is not currently supported by WebSphere Transformation Extender.
