Abstract

This document lists the hardware and software requirements for WebSphere ILOG JRules BRMS V7.1 on the Linux operating system on IBM System z platforms.

This page describes the minimum product levels that must be installed before opening a problem report with the WebSphere ILOG JRules support team. Because other products frequently ship fixes, updates, and new releases, testing every configuration is not possible. In general, you can install and run with minor updates to supported products if those updates are forward compatible.

Supporting software (for example Databases) can run, but does not need to run, on the same computer or operating system where the product runs. For additional information:


This document identifies supporting software that runs on the Linux operating system on IBM System z platforms. This table applies to WebSphere ILOG Decision Validation Services, JRules (Rule Execution Server module) and Rule Team Server.

Operating Systems

Hardware requirements
  • System z processors
  • Minimum 1 GB physical memory; 2 GB recommended
  • DVD/CD-ROM drive
Application Servers
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server 6.1.0.21, 7.0 and future fix packs
    (Base, Express, Network Deployment, Developers Edition)
    IBM WebSphere Application Server product site
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server Community Edition 2.1.1.3 and future fix packs
  • JBoss Application Server 4.2.3, 5.0.1, JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 4.3 and future fix packs
    For JRules 7.1.1 and future fix packs, JBoss Application Server 5.1, JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 5.0 and future fix packs are supported
  • WebLogic Server 9.2.3, 10.0.1,10.3.0, 11g R1 (10.3.1, 10.3.2, 10.3.3) and future fix packs

  • IBM 32-bit SDK for Linux, Java 2 Technology Edition, 5.0, 6.0 and future fix packs
  • IBM 64-bit SDK for Linux, Java 2 Technology Edition, 5.0, 6.0 and future fix packs
Databases
  • Apache Derby 10.4 and future modification releases and fix packs and the version shipped with supported WebSphere Application Server
  • IBM DB2 for LUW 8.2, 9.1, 9.5, 9.7 and future modification releases and fix packs IBM DB2 product site
  • IBM DB2 Express-C is not supported
  • Oracle 10g, 11g and future modification releases and fix packs Oracle product site

  • Derby JDBC Provider (XA) 10.4 or the version shipped with supported WebSphere Application Server

  • IBM Toolbox (XA) for Java/JTOpen JDBC Driver 4.8 (type 4) IBM Toolbox for Java product site

  • WebSphere Process Server 6.1, 6.2, 7.0 and future fix packs


Note: A modification release is a fix that delivers new functionality for a particular version and release. A fix pack is a cumulative collection of all fixes available up to that point for the base release. A fix pack can include fixes that have not been previously released and can span multiple products or components. A fix pack can be applied on top of any previously shipped maintenance to bring the system up to the current fix pack level.
