WebSphere Data Interchange MP Version 3.3 Support for DB2 Version 9

Question & Answer

Question

This formalizes support for DB2 Universal Database Version 9 in WebSphere Data Interchange Version 3.3. Updated February 21, 2011

Answer

As of this date, WebSphere Data Interchange Version 3.3 formalizes support status for interaction with DB2 Universal Database Workgroup Edition Version 9 with open database connectivity (ODBC). WDI and DB2 v9 have been tested together on Windows and AIX with WDI 3.3 in a lab environment. We have encountered one issue with DB2 v9 installation. No additional problems have been encountered. Our testing has been performed with WDI v3.3 at the base level.

The issue encountered is:
During installation on Open Systems, the "createdb.ddl" script will show the following error:
SQL5153N The update cannot be completed because the following relationship would be violated: "softmax <= 100 * logprimary".

This is only a warning.

(February 21, 2011 update)
A second issue is
WINDOWS 2003 DB2 CONNECT ABEND WHEN USERID/PASSWORD NOT SPECIFIED.
Using WDI 3.3 Client CFP10 on Windows 2003 with DB2 V9, if a (valid) userid and password is not specified in ODBC for the (EDIEC33E) DB2 local database and then attempt to connect to the database is made via the WDI Client, the Client appears to crash/abend.
If only the userid is specified in ODBC, the same result occurs. There is no crash/abend
when the userid and password are registered with ODBC before using the WDI 3.3 Client.
It appears that we do not get the "Connect to DB2 Database" popup window on Windows 2003.

This is resolved by applying a DB2 APAR fix to DB2 V9.1 or V9.7
There are APARs already associated to this issue with the DB2 team.

DB2 9.1 version: IC69668
https://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IC69668

NOTE: The APAR is listed as fixed for DB2 9.1 Fix Pack 10 and APARs list shows as fixed for the same. Following is the link for the fixed APARs list for DB2 9.1 fix pack 10:
https://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21255607

DB2 9.7 version: IC69491
DB2 9.7 Fix Pack 3 has the resolution to this issue. Following is the link to this APAR:
https://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IC69491

With WDI v3.3 at the base level, DB2 v9 is considered supported for Windows and AIX platforms for which support has been claimed. DB2 v9 for z/OS is also supported.
