WebSphere Application Server embedded driver for Microsoft SQL Server is for use only with a datasource

Troubleshooting

Problem

The WebSphere® Application Server (WAS) embedded driver for Microsoft® SQL Server™ can be accessed through use of a datasource only. This limitation prevents this driver from being loaded by use of a DriverManager mechanism. This also means that only J2EE™ applications can use this SQL driver, since an ordinary Java™ application cannot access a datasource.
