webMethods Knowlegebase : When using REST Services, the HTTP Header "accept-encoding: gzip" doesn't return gzipped content (1767998)

Troubleshooting

Problem

The following command returns gzipped content:

curl -k -H "Accept-Encoding: gzip" https://<myhostname>:<myport>/ws/SDW21/REST/service/data/EXR/A.NOK.EUR.SP00.A -o test17.gz

The following command returns uncompressed content:

curl -k -H "accept-encoding: gzip" https://<myhostname>:<myport>/ws/SDW21/REST/service/data/EXR/A.NOK.EUR.SP00.A -o test17.gz

However, according to the RFC for HTTP1.1 http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec4.html, “Field names are case-insensitive.”
