webMethods Knowlegebase : MWS - Update Manager Error (installing updates). (1753910)

Troubleshooting

Problem

While attempting to install patches via SUM (on 64-bit PC), I receive the error of:

"MWS reports instance default is still online", but Windows services for MWS are turned off.

I also followed this KB Article, but on my Windows server I do not see a "disabled instance" (like it states as the solution). - https://empower.softwareag.com/sl24sec/SecuredServices/KCFullTextASP/viewing/view.asp?prdfamily=Suite&KEY=102781-18711364&DSN=PIVOTAL&DST=TCD

Resolution:

This sequence of steps solved the customer problem:

1) Get cluster.xml for environment from the database, using: : mws.sh getconfig cluster.xml.

2) Reviewed the cluster.xml and found a disabled instance "default" with port "8585"; removed all disabled server definitions (enabled = "false") from the cluster.xml.

3) Saved the cluster.xml in the database using: mws.sh putconfig cluster.xml.

4) Deleted the cluster.xml from %MWS instance%/config.

5) Restart the SUM (Software AG Update Manager).

6) SUM now recognizes the correct MWS instance and proceeds with installing the fixes as desired.

Do you have any ideas on how to get passed this error?
