WASX7143E errors when running Jython scripts that contain National Language Characters

Troubleshooting

Problem

Jython conversion issues occur when configuration objects contain national language (non-English) characters.

Symptom

Errors are encountered in Jython when a configuration object or object argument is created that contains national language (non-English) characters.

The use of Jython commands such as AdminConfig.create() or AdminConfig.modify() to modify or create a config object in wsadmin will fail if the object name or object argument contains national language (non-English) characters.

For example, the AdminConfig.create command will fail with the following error:
com.ibm.ws.scripting.ScriptingException:
com.ibm.ws.scripting.ScriptingException: WASX7143E: The object with id
"WebSphere Relational Resource
Adapter(cells/WRSNodeCell\xE7/nodes/WRSNode\xE7|resources.xml#builtin_rr a)" does not exist.
