Abstract
You extend an AIX Virtual Image from Catalog > Virtual
Images. On the extended virtual machine, you apply an AIX TL3
fix, a patch fixing a cmdlvm AIX vulnerability that uninstalls Java 5
and upgrades to Java 6 with a more recent version.
After running these updates, you try to capture the
virtual image.
After about 2 - 3 hours, the capture fails with the error: "Failed to load
the virtual image in the catalog".

Problem summary:
Images that have been extended from the IBM OS Image for AIX
Systems versions 1.0.0.0, 1.0.0.1, 1.0.0.2, 1.0.0.3, 1.0.0.4, 2.0.0.0, 2.0.0.1, 2.0.0.2, 2.0.0.3 contain OpenSSL version 0.9.8. When you apply the AIX Technology Level ( TL ) fix, it upgrades to a version of OpenSSL based on versions of 1.0.x.
Python and CURL on those images were compiled with OpenSSL version 0.9.8, so they need to be recompiled with the newer OpenSSL level.
Problem resolution:
An emergency fix is available on Fix Central for the images that were
based on the older IBM OS Image for AIX Systems: compile_python.zip.
