Viewing Program Objects in Libraries Using System i Navigator

Troubleshooting

Problem

This note addresses how to view program objects in libraries (including QSYS) using System i Navigator.

Resolving The Problem

To view program objects in a library other than QSYS.LIB using System i Navigator, do the following:

1.

Select My Connections.
2.Select the specific connection or system.
3.Select File Systems.
4.Select Integrated File Systems.
5.Select QSYS.LIB.
6.If the programs are in a library other than QSYS (for example, QSYS2), select the library of interest. For example, double click on the library name. The program objects are shown.
7.If you want to see the program objects in QSYS, right-click on QSYS.LIB and select Customize this View > Include. You will see that the default filter applied to this view is *.LIB. Change it to *.PGM to view the programs. Due to the large number of objects that exist in QSYS, all objects except libraries are filtered out by default for performance reasons.
