Problem
The PASE environment health-check tool (QHCRPRECHK) or some other process has reported that the /usr/bin/host symbolic link does not exist. This Technote describes why it might be missing and how to create it manually.
Symptom
The /usr/bin/host symbolic link does not exist.
Cause
The /usr/bin/host symbolic link is created during the install of OS/400 Option 31 (5770SS1 31 Domain Name System). If option 31 is not installed, the symbolic link will not exist unless manually created.
Resolving The Problem
The /usr/bin/host symbolic link is created during the install of OS/400 Option 31 (5770SS1 31 Domain Name System). If option 31 is not installed, the symbolic link will not exist unless manually created.
Run the following command to create the symbolic link:
| ADDLNK OBJ('/QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/OS400/DNS/bin/host') NEWLNK('/usr/bin/host') |
