Objective

This document describes various methods of starting the Interactive Subsystem QINTER.  

Environment

IBM i all versions of the Operating System.  The methods described on this document assume that the TCP stack is started and the Ethernet Line Interface is active. 

Steps

Method 1: Startup Program.
  1. Add the command the following command to your Startup Program.  IBM Supplied Startup program, already includes the command to start the QINTER interactive subsystem after an IPL completes. If you need to modify the IBM supplied program or create your own, you can reference the following link:
Method 2: Manually start QINTER via a Console Session.  
  1. Signon to your Console Session using your HMC or ACS Console emulator.  
  2. At the command line, issue the following command:
STRSBS SBSD(QINTER)

Method 3: Manually start QINTER via an FTP Command Line.
  1. Start an FTP Session to the System.  
  2. Use the QUO RCMD command:
FTP <System i TCP/IP Address)
user ID (QSECOFR or any user with *ALLOBJ authority)
password
quo rcmd STRSBS SBSD(QINTER)

Method 4: Manually start QINTER via Navigator for i.
  1. Signon to a Navigator for i interface via your Web Browser:

Method 5: Manually start QINTER via RUN SQL Scripts.
  1. Signon to a RUN SQL Scripts via ACS:
  2. Use the CL: Command to issue the STRSBS and use the RUN ALL option: 
CL: STRSBS SBSD(QINTER)
