Validate a Quote
About this task
Inthe life cycle of a quote validations are performed at differentstages to verify whether the products or the product quantity in thequote are valid for the quote. If a quote contains product lines thathave failed validation the quote must be modified appropriately toenable a user to perform any of the following tasks:
- Request approval of a quote
- Present a quote to a customer
- Convert a quote to an order
For example if a quote contains a productwhose effective end date is earlier than the current date the quotecannot be presented to a customer until the product is removed fromthe quote.
To view and modify the lines thatfail quote validation:
Procedure
- Log in to Sterling Field Sales.
- The application home page is displayed.Perform one of the following steps:
- Click the Find Quote hyperlink.
- Click the Opportunities tab.In the Opportunity home page click the Find Quote hyperlink.
- Click the Quotes tab. Inthe Quote home page click the Find Quote hyperlink.
- Navigate to the Opportunity Details screen andthen click the Quote Name hyperlink in the Quotes panel.In this scenario ignore steps 3 and 4 and proceed to step 5.
- Under the Navigation panelclick Search... enter the name of the quoteas the search criteria and then click the Search icon. TheQuick Search Results screen displays a maximum of 10 quotes and 10opportunities matching the search criteria.
Note: The
Navigation panel is displayedonly if you have not selected the
Hide Navigation Panel userpreference.
If the quote that you are searchingfor is displayed in the Matches on Quotes panelclick the corresponding Quote Name hyperlink or double-click the correspondingrow. The Quote Summary screen is displayed. In this scenario ignoresteps 3 and 4 and proceed to step 5.
Howeverif the quote that you are searching for is not displayed in the Matcheson Quotes panel click Advanced Quote Search.
- The Quote Search screen is displayed. Enterthe appropriate search criteria and click Search.
- The quotes matching the search criteriaare displayed in the Search Results panel. Clickthe corresponding Quote Name hyperlink or double-click the correspondingrow.
Note: If only one quotematches the search criteria the details of the corresponding quoteare automatically displayed.
- The Quote Summary screen is displayed. Underthe Tasks panel click Validate Quote.
- The Validate Quote screen is displayed.
- If none of the lines in the quote have failed validationa message is displayed to indicate that the quote does not containany lines failing validation.
- If there are any quote lines failing validationthe Problem Quote Lines panel displays thoselines. The Problem column displays the reason why a quote linehas failed validation.
- If there are any recommended lines failing validationthe Problem Recommended Lines panel displaysthose lines. The Problem column displays the reason why a recommendedline has failed validation.
- Click the corresponding Line # hyperlinkto modify the line details. The Quote Details screen is displayedwith the Products tab highlighted and the listof products filtered by the Product ID of the selected product.
