Summary
This example provides manual steps to install IBM Integration Designer and Unit Test Environment. Launchpad automates this process when run the Administrator user account is used, which is uncommon in enterprise environments where domain users with Administrator group membership are standard.
Installation Failure Scenario:
Domain users typically fail during database script execution because they lack Db2 Administrator group membership. The createDatabase scripts execute under the logged-in domain user's credentials, causing BPMConfig to fail when database access is denied.
Database Configuration Options:
Launchpad can install Db2 as part of the installation or work with an existing Db2 instance. Recommended in this example is to install first Db2 Community Edition.
Install and configure Db2 Community Edition first
Add the domain user to the Db2 Administrator group using the db2extsec command
Verify database connectivity before running Launchpad
Alternative Solutions:
Provide Launchpad with db2admin credentials in the installation properties file
Run installation as the Db2 Service account
Use Windows runas command to execute database creation with appropriate credentials
Manual Process:
This guide documents manual server registration using commands and scripts when Launchpad automation is not feasible or when troubleshooting installation issues. The manual approach provides greater control and visibility into each configuration step.
