Using the solution interface

The IBM? Traffic Information Hub isa product of the IBM Intelligent Transportation solutionfamily providing current and historical traffic data management capabilitiesfor the transportation network. The IBM Traffic Information Hub is a web-based solutionthat uses portal technology.

You can access the solution with any of the supported web browsers. For details of which browsers are supported see the detailed systemrequirements.

The optional transportation prediction component helps anticipatetraffic flows and speeds on specific road segments. It provides thetraffic state characteristics such as volume and speed that bestcharacterize the traffic state into the short and medium-term future.The transportation prediction feature providesa layer of intelligence by taking traffic sensor data and applyingsophisticated algorithms to it that create relevant future insightsfrom the collected raw data.

Sections of the documentation are markedwith the Additional functionality provided by the transportation prediction feature iconto indicate that the information applies to the optional transportation prediction component.

The IBM Traffic Information Hub userinterface is also linked to the portal for the IBM Intelligent Operations Center and other IBM Smarter Cities?   • Logging on
    Access the IBM Intelligent Transportation userinterface.
  • Logging off
    Exit the IBM Intelligent Transportation userinterface.
  • Viewing or editing your user profile
    Click Edit My Profile toaccess your user profile for the portal server. From your user profileyou can modify some of your personal user settings including passwordname email and language preferences.
  • Controlling the map
    You can move around the map by usingyour mouse or keyboard.
  • Operator: Traffic view
    Use the Operator: Traffic viewto monitor and analyze the current and forecasted trafficdata available in the IBM Intelligent Transportation solution.Information collected by the IBM Traffic Information Hub is displayed onthe Operator: Traffic view. Information generated by the transportation prediction feature is also displayedon this view.
  • Planner: Traffic view
    Use the Planner: Traffic viewto monitor and analyze historical traffic data archived in the IBM Traffic Information Hub database. Use thisview to see summary reports of historical traffic flow and performanceof the traffic network.
  • Running reports
    IBM Intelligent Transportation providesgraphical report summaries of the traffic data stored in the system.Some of the traffic reports are displayed by default in the reportsportlets in the user interface. The reports feature is useful foranalyzing the performance of the transportation network and usingthis information to make decisions to reduce congestion and improvethe flow of traffic.
