Using the PRTRPTBRM to Print a Backup Statistics Report

Troubleshooting

Problem

Starting at V6R1M0, after a backup is complete, BRMS can generate a report that will contain important information/statistics about the backup

Resolving The Problem

After a backup is complete, BRMS can generate a report that will contain important information/statistics about the backup. This report can then be used in comparison on a day-to-day basis. This will enable the user to better monitor how a specific backup is performing, as well as indicate when there are problems.

You should perform the following steps to print the backup statistic report:

1. Type PRTRPTBRM at any command line, and press F4 to prompt the Print Report using BRM display.
2. Set the value in the Type field to *BKUSTAT.
3. Press Enter to generate the spooled file QP1ABS.
4. Use the Work with Spooled Files (WRKSPLF) command to view or print this report.

Note: The Print Report using the BRM (PRTRPTBRM) command will also generate an outfile, using file QO1ABS in library QBRM as the model.
