How To
Summary
IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook contains an option to locate previously linked matches. When two or more entities are discovered to be potential matches, a match link can be created between them. These match links are selected when the previously linked matches option is run, allowing the analyst to determine whether the entities warrant being merged or not.
Objective
Understand how to use the previously linked matches feature.
Environment
Analyst's Notebook 9.2.x
Steps
On the following chart, we navigate to the Analyze tab. Under the Find Matching Entities option, we run the Smart Matching Against Selection.
We see that a potential match is given for Jack York and Jack Yorke with a match confidence of level 6. If we then choose to Link these matches, Analyst's Notebook links the two entities with a match type of link.
This link has a semantic type of Possible Match Between, as seen in the List Items dialog.
We can now continue importing data and doing analysis work until we can determine more conclusively whether we want to merge Jack York and Jack Yorke.
Once we make our determination, we can open up the Find Matching Entities tab again and run the Previously Linked Matches option.
This displays all the potential matches we had previously discovered. We can choose to merge the two entities and we see our chart reflect the change. However, the cards of the newly merged entity contain the information about both previous entities.
If the chart is closed while there is a match link, the match link is preserved upon reopening of the chart and will continue to be found by using the Previously Linked Matches feature.
