Resolving The Problem
This document includes a tutorial on using the Access for Windows PC5250 emulator trace facility.
1. Start the PC5250 Trace.
a) From the PC, select START-> PROGRAMS -> IBM iSERIES ACCESS FOR WINDOWS -> EMULATOR -> TRACE FACILITY

b) Select the following:
o Under Function Name, select 5250 Emulator.
o Under Component Name, select Communication data.
o Under Trace Options, select TCP/IP.

Press Start.
2. Start the pc5250 session and re-create the failure.
3. End the PC5250 Trace.
a) The trace window is still open. Take the option to Stop the trace.

b) Take the option to Save the trace.

A window will appear.

Ensure the option for Replace unformatted trace file is selected, as shown here.
Click OK.
c) Take the option to Format the trace.

A window will appear.

Browse to save the Name of resulting file on your desktop.

Select Save.
d) Locating the trace file.
On your desktop, there should be a file called NSTRC.TLG; e-mail it to your Support Representative.
Note: You can e-mail the file to IBM Support at ibmi_support@ecurep.ibm.com. You should make sure the subject line of the e-mail is your entire PMR number; for example, Subject: PMR XXXXX,XXX,XXX.
