Question & Answer

Question

After installing IBM Cognos Planning version 10.2 RTM, the Version list for the Planning store in Cognos Configuration does not contain an entry for Microsoft SQL Server 2012. If you select Microsoft SQL Server 2008 instead and test the connection to a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 database, an error message is displayed : [Planning Store] [ERROR] Connection test to 'localhost' failed. e7a Unable to open connection using connection string of Provider=SQLNCLI10;Data Source=localhost;UID=saa;PWD=********** and timedout in 15 seconds. Provider may cannot be found. It may not be properly installed. [ERROR] Cognos Configuration is unable to access the Planning Store. Verify your database connection parameters, and then contact your database administrator for assistance. (Note : the first version supporting SQL Server 2012 was Planning 10.1.1 FP2)
