Using F9 or F10 to update/run a Controller Excel spreadsheet report - explanation of different approaches

Troubleshooting

Problem

Customer would like more information on whether to use F9 or F10 to run (update) an Excel spreadsheet (for example a report).

Symptom

Typically there are two reasons for using F10 (instead of F9) to run/refresh a Controller Excel link spreadsheet report:

  1. Slow Performance - see Technote 1347497.
  2. Out Of Memory errors (for example "System.OutOfMemoryException") - see Technote 1406746.
