Question & Answer
Question
Is it possible to use Cognos Framework Manager without being an Administrator?
Cause
As documented, you must be local administrator to install and run Cognos Framework Manager:
"Ensure that you have administrator privileges for the Windows computer you are installing on. If you are not an administrator, ask your system administrator to add you to the Administrator group on your computer. Administrator privileges are also required for the account that is used to run Framework Manager."
This is beacuse when using the product, there are temp files that need to be written so the end user requires write permissions, there are preference files that need to be updated which require modify and read, otherwise, they will not be able to use any file and execute to be able to run.
Answer
If being a member of local administrators group is not possible, grant the users full permissions on the FM install directory.
If the users don't have these permissions on the install directory, then the product will not function. They must have read/write/modify/update(all permissions).
Note: This workaround is supported "as is", and may not be successful or functional in all cases
