User is not automatically logged into Excel link when launching functionality from main Controller program (CCR.EXE), caused by installing two MSI client files

Troubleshooting

Problem

User launches the main Controller program (CCR.EXE). User logs onto database. User then launches an Excel-based piece of functionality (for example clicking 'Controller Link' X button). However, when Excel opens, the user finds that he/she is not logged onto Controller (inside the Excel link).

Symptom

Example #1:

User clicks "Excel link" shortcut icon (on Controller taskbar):

Excel opens, but if user clicks "Add-ins" and then "Controller" they find that the 'Logon' button is NOT greyed out (i.e. it is active, demonstrating that they are not logged onto Controller inside the Excel link).

Example #2:

User clicks "Company - Data Entry - Reported Values". User makes selections, and clicks "open". As expected, Excel launches. However, the form never appears (and the user is not logged onto the Excel link).
