Problem
Attempts to use LMTOOLS to save a change in the services results in the error "The license file / license Path does not exist where specified."
Symptom
The following message appears Even though you specify the correct path to the license files.
"The license file / license Path does not exist where specified"
and the "Path the license file" field sets back the previous value.

Cause
The default path to the license files might vary depending on the license server versions as below.
| License server Ver | License files folder path |
| 7.0.x or older | C:\Program Files\Rational\Common\ |
| 7.1 and higher | C:\Program Files\RationalSDLC\common |
| 8.1.1 and higher | C:\Program Files\RationalRLKS\common\ |
The above paths contain the following license files and the Windows registry points to these paths.
rational_server_perm.dat
rational_server_temp.dat
When you try to save a change in the services on LMTOOLS, it rejects any new information with above mentioned error.
This is due to the browser button only allowing you to point at one file at the time, as Windows browser does not allow to select the paths for two files simultaneously.
Resolving The Problem
Correct the path in the following Windows registry key:

- Copy the paths to the license file on LMTOOLS > Config Services
- Open Windows registry editor (Start > Run type regedit)
- Paste it to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Flexlm License Manager\Flexlm License manager
Note: ';' should be used as a separator
If you use both Telelogic licensing server and Rational license server, the path would be:
(RLS ver 7.1 in below example)
C:\Program Files\RationalSDLC\common\rational_server_perm.dat;C:\Program Files\RationalSDLC\common\rational_server_temp.dat;<Path to Telelogic license file>
