Resolving The Problem

This document describes UPS sense cables.

There are two cables that connect the UPS to the IBM System i system. The first is the power cord for the System i system, and the second is termed the Sense cable or J14 cable. This cable is used by the UPS to advise the System i system of the current state of power; for example, Utility power failed, and the UPS is now supplying the System i system, and so on.

Note: There may also be a CPM cable that may be attached between a model 170 and a 9910 UPS.
