Troubleshooting
Problem
Attempts to update an Enterprise Archive published from IBM WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools for Eclipse 8.5.1 to IBM WebSphere Application Server with a a secured profile results in the SSLHandshakeException error, when using a non-IBM JVM or IBM JDK 1.8.
Symptom
The following steps reproduce the problem:
- Start WebSphere Application Server with a secured profile.
- Start WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools for Eclipse.
- Create a new Enterprise Archive with at least one module.
- Publish the Enterprise Archive to the server with all default publishing options. In particular, in the Security section of the Server Editor, verify that the following options are selected: Security is enabled on this server and Automatically trust server certificate during SSL handshake. In some cases, the initial publishing is successful, in others, the initial publication fails.
- Modify the application, if the initial publication succeeded.
- Let the server re-publish the change (or select Publish).
Results:
You will see an error message as follows:
