Problem
I am using the update command as found in the Command Syntax Reference and made the necessary changes to accommodate my file. I have my open file indicated by an asterisk and the path of the transaction file along with a /BY command. UPDATE FILE=* /FILE = C:\Program Files\SPSS\MyFile.sav /BY ID /MAP. When I run the commands I am prompted with the following error messages. Warning # 206 An invalid character has been found on a command Error # 5102 in column 15. Text: : Invalid symbol for this command. Check for spelling errors or special symbols. Syntax checking begins with the next slash. This command not executed. What am I doing wrong?
