Abstract
WebSphere Application Server detailed system requirements list supported dependent software, but omission from that list are ambiguous. For example, an older operating system release that is no longer in the standard support is typically removed from the detailed system requirements but is not immediately incompatible.
This document lists substitutions for dependent software that are known to be incompatible or otherwise are treated as unsupported rather than "other configuration".

- IBM HTTP Server 8.5.5.27 and 9.0.5.22 (and later) are incompatible with Linux distributions that use a GLIBC older than RHEL7 (2.14) on x86 and x86_64 due to a change to the compilation environment. This includes RHEL6 and SLES11 which have not been listed as supported operating systems for some time. (March 7 2025)
- All offerings: ppc, ppc64, and s390 (but not ppc64le or s390x) runtimes are no longer supported by WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5.28 and later. In 9.0 where IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, v8.0 is a separate offering, 8.0.8.30 (SR8FP30) is the final SDK update supporting these architectures on Linux. Operating systems for these architectures were previously removed from the detailed system requirements. (March 7 2025)
