Unsatisfied dependency when attempting to update Rational ClearQuest Eclipse client using IDE update site

Troubleshooting


Problem

Attempting to update the version of the Rational ClearQuest Eclipse client results in an error message indicating that there is an unsatisfied dependency.

Symptom

If you attempt to install the Rational ClearQuest Eclipse client using the IDE update site, you will see the following error message:


    "The software items you selected may not be valid with your current installation.  Do you want to open the wizard anyway to review the sections?"

If you choose to display the wizard, you will see the following error message (actual version numbers will vary with the version being installed):

    "Cannot complete the request.  See the details.
    IBM Rational ClearQuest Common Base Event Log Handler will be ignored because it is already installed.
    Rational ClearQuest is already installed, so an update will be performed instead.
    Rational ClearQuest Language Pack will be ignored because it is already installed.
    Rational ClearQuest OLE Attachment Support will be ignored because it is already installed.
    Rational ClearQuest Test Manager is already installed, so an update will be performed instead.
    Rational ClearQuest Core is already installed, so an update will be performed instead.
    Rational ClearQuest Core Language Pack will be ignored because it is already installed.
