How To
Summary
There are various configurations that are valid when settings up a single or dual HMC environment. Understanding some of these configurations can help with troubleshooting and support of the equipment.
Objective
Before starting the process of cabling your FSP or eBMC based Power System to your HMC, it might be useful to build a basic understanding of the network topology of the "managed network".
The "managed network" in some instances might be separate from the public network in your environment, however that is not a requirement. Understanding how the HMC and the systems are configured physically is required for future maintenance and servicing.
This list of example network diagrams is not exhaustive since we will not have space to show all valid configurations:

Steps
Starting in v10.r2.1030 the new carbon GUI was added to the HMC. This document was created to show configuring a basic dual HMC with a single system configuration. "Configuring HMC V10R2M1040 for Use on a Private and Open Network".
This next document shows a bit more detail on configuring redundant HMCs "Configuring Redundant HMCs". The figure in this document matches with the Figure 3 from the above examples.
Once a configuration has been selected and cabling completed:
For eBMC systems follow this document "Connecting a Power 10 eBMC system to an HMC".
For FSP based systems you can refer back to "Cabling the HMC and FSP or eBMC".
