"Unavailable" users listed inside Controller-related Cognos security roles (for example 'Controller Users')

Problem

User launches Cognos Connection (http://servername/ibmcognos). - User clicks 'Administer IBM Cognos content' - User clicks 'Security' - Inside "User Groups and roles" user clicks on 'Cognos' namespace - User clicks 'Properties' to the right of the relevant role (for example 'Controller Users') - User clicks 'Members'. Inside the list there are some 'Unavailable' users. What does this mean, and how can customers remove these users?

The list contains entries that cannot be displayed. They may have been deleted or you may not have sufficient privileges to see them.
