Troubleshooting
Problem
If OpenPages is deployed on a different site than Cognos, attempting to run a Cognos report in OpenPages may result in an authentication failure. Recent/upcoming security updates to browsers such as Chrome and Safari may prevent the session cookie from being sent when OpenPages makes a request to Cognos.
Symptom
When running a Cognos report within OpenPages, the following error message is shown:
com.openpages.security.auth.AuthenticationException: 401:Login failed with error response 401: Unauthorized
com.openpages.security.auth.AuthenticationException: 401:Login failed with error response 401: Unauthorized
In addition, if you capture the network activity during the request for the report in your browser's developer tools, you'll see that the second request to https://<cognos_site>/ibmcognos/bi/v1/disp will have no cookies sent with it (when it should have the usersessionid cookie, among others).
