Error genrated in composite when retrieveing result from data source

Symptom

Data Manager error occuring in this context:
DM-DBM-0400 UDA driver reported the following on connection Source_xxxxx:
UDA-SQL-0107 A general exception has occurred during the operation "fetch".

Composite error:
Unable to retrieve result from data source "/shared/sources/xxxxx" during query execution.
Failed query: "SELECT
`Artikelgruppe`.`id`,`Artikelgruppe`.`Bezeichnung`,`Artikelgruppe`.`Gewicht`, .......
..... FROM `Artikelgruppe`". [data-3923000]
Cause: Communications link failure due to underlying exception:
