Unable to Remove Task Rows From Work Order Record

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document provides information about a known cause for the scenario where Maximo prevents users from removing task rows from a work order which has already been saved.

Symptom

You may experience an issue where you are working in the Work Order Tracking application and when you try to delete or remove tasks from a work order already saved in the Plans tab, the following error message is displayed:

"BMXAA0029E - You are not authorized to perform this action for this record. Contact your system administrator to request changes to your authorization."

Steps to reproduce this scenario :

0) Open Maximo logged as maxadmin

1) Go to the Security Groups application and create a new security group record called "GROUP_A" with the following info :
“Independent of Other Groups?”- Checked
Site: BEDFORD
On the Applications tab > Find for Work Order Tracking application > Options for Work Order Tracking:
- New Work Order
- Read Access to Work Order Tracking
- Save Work Order

2) Create a new security group record "GROUP_B" with the following info :
“Independent of Other Groups?”- Checked
Site: MCLEAN
In the Applications tab > Find for Work Order Tracking application > Options for Work Order Tracking:
- Delete Work Order
- New Work Order
- Read Access to Work Order Tracking
- Save Work Order

3) Go to Users application and create a new user "USER_TEST" for Group "GROUP_A" and "GROUP_B". You should assign those groups in the Groups tab of the Users application for that particular new record.

4) Create a work order record in Work Order Tracking application for Site - "BEDFORD" (or make sure there already existing work order records which SITE = BEDFORD, created by maxadmin user)

5) Exit Maximo and log in as user USER_TEST, go to the Work Order Tracking application and open any work order record from the BEDFORD site.
In the Plans tab, try to delete a task by clicking on the trash icon, and the following error message is displayed:
"BMXAA0029E - You are not authorized to perform this action for this record."

6) Create a new work order record for Site "BEDFORD" with the logged user. (the new user created), create a new task row for it in Plans tab and Save record.

NOTE: If you try to delete a task the following error message is displayed:
"BMXAA0029E - You are not authorized to perform this action for this record"

However, if you create a record for Site - "MCLEAN", create a new task for it and try to delete a task, then Maximo allows you to do that.
