Problem
In an Linux operating system, log into the Integrated Management Module (IMM) web page and select Server management, Remote Control, Start remote control. In the pop-up Video Viewer window, select Tools, Launch Virtual Media and try to mount the Universal Serial Bus (USB) drive. A warning window will pop up stating "The drive is mounted and might not allow write access", but the drive is not mounted when viewed in the remote control viewer.

Symptom

- Flex System x440 Compute Node, type 2584, any model
- Flex System x440 Compute Node, type 7917, any model
This tip is not software specific.

The following system firmware level(s) are affected:
- IMM2 firmware version 1.78 Build ID: 1AOO36E and earlier
The system has the symptom described above.
Solution
This behavior was corrected in IMM2 firmware version 1.88 Build ID: 1AOO40A.

Workaround
Use a Microsoft Windows operating system to mount the USB drive.
