IBM Support

Unable to propagate events for inventory as a child object of item when using MIF.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Using an object structure with item as parent and inventory as a child of item, updates to inventory do not propagate to item.

Cause

Updates to the inventory record in Maximo do not cause an event to fire.

Resolving The Problem

Customer has created a custom object structure with ITEM as the parent and INVENTORY as the child and expects that updates to INVENTORY will propagate to the parent, However, INVENTORY is not created from ITEM. It is a different Maximo application, so they do not use the same hierarchy. ITEM is not the parent of INVENTORY.

Therefore updates to INVENTORY will not propagate.

You need to create two object structures, one for ITEM and one for
INVENTORY. You can use the out of the box MXITEM and MXINVENTORY object structures, or use your own, but you should use the outbound and inbound processing classes associated with each object structure.
