Unable to login to Cognos analytics. Logon just hangs and does not respond



After working with Themes, extensions or customizations the authentication process hangs on the logon screen.


The browser shows the login process as processing. But the login never returns


The Manage -> Customization -> Views tab.
Shows a value other then 'home' (Default value)

Diagnosing The Problem

Refresh the browser, does the browser tab title change ? If so it is unable to load the specified perspective.

Resolving The Problem

To correct the issue:
- login to using the ?factoryMode=true url option.
e.g <Cognos Analytics URL>?factoryMode=true
This should allow you to login to the portal.
- Once in the portal go to Manage -> Customization -> Views tab.
Change the 'Home view' from the value it's been set to nothing.(Delete the value)
- Click Apply. This will set it back to the default value 'home'

Once the above has been completed, users should now have access to Cognos 11 page.
