Problem

Impromptu Web Reports Series (IWR) 7 Windows Operating System Description: After a new installation of IWR, unable to open a IWR Report and Server Administration tools. Cognos IWR Service Manager(cer2) not installed in Services. Error Message - Unable to log on. A network failure occurred while communicating with server . Error encountered sending parameters to server. Solution: The validation and application of the new install has not been completed in Configuration Manager. Steps - 1. Start Configuration Manager. 2. Click File, Open Current Configuration. 3. Select the server name at the highest level. 4. Right click the server name and click Validate selection. 5. Right click the server name and click Apply selection. 6. Right click the server name and click Start. If the validation, application and start of services in Configuration Manager is not successful note the warnings/errors messages generated by Configuration Manager. Once steps 4,5 & 6 complete successfully, you should see the Cognos IWR Service Manager(cer2) in Control Panel, Services and this services should be started. IWR Report and Server Administration tools should now launch successfully.
