Unable to log in to Lotus Notes agent

Question & Answer

Question

Unable to log in to Lotus Notes agent and unable to open the NAMES.NSF on the Domino Server. How can this issue be resolved?

Cause

Through the Lotus Notes Client, names.nsf file on domino server can be successfully opened using the ID file and password.
However, the file is unable to be opened through the Lotus Notes agent. This is causing login failure.
The problem is the adapter is unable to open the database. Check if the Lotus Notes client has access to (NAMES.NSF) on the server.
Also, after running the node agent -console command, check whether the ID file used by the console is the same as the one configured in the registry.

Answer

In console mode if adapter is using a different id,  use the following procedure to verify:

  1. Click File > Open > Open Notes Application
  2. Open the names.nsf. The server name must be exactly same as the one in registry. If it is not, change the server name in agent registry to what is displayed in the Lotus Notes Client.
  3. Click File >Security >User Security.
Note: Ensure that the client is connecting with same the ID as in the registry. Also try disabling the windows firewall and test again. Try once after System Reboot is completed.
The Lotus Notes Client version installed must be officially supported on the OS. The Adapter is only guaranteed to work on a system where the Lotus Notes Client is officially supported.
